Privacy Policy
Last updated: June 2026
Video Tools is built around a simple privacy principle: your videos are yours. This policy explains what happens to your files, what limited data is involved when you use the site, and how advertising cookies work.
Your videos are processed locally and never uploaded
Every tool on Video Tools — extracting audio to MP3, trimming, making GIFs and converting formats — runs entirely inside your web browser using ffmpeg compiled to WebAssembly. When you select a file, it is read into your browser's memory and processed on your own device. Your videos and audio are never uploaded to our servers or sent to any third party. We never see, store, or have access to the files you process. Once you close or refresh the tab, those files are gone from memory.
Information we collect
We do not ask you to create an account and we do not collect personal information that you provide directly, apart from any email you choose to send us via the contact link. Like most websites, our hosting provider and content delivery network may process standard technical data such as your IP address, browser type and the pages requested, in server logs used to operate and secure the site.
Cookies and advertising
Video Tools is supported by advertising and may use Google AdSense to display ads. To fund a free service, this can involve cookies:
- Google, as a third-party vendor, uses cookies to serve ads on this site. Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visits to this site and other sites on the internet.
- These third-party cookies may be used to show you more relevant ads and to measure ad performance. They are set by Google, not by us, and we do not have access to the data they collect.
- You can opt out of personalised advertising by visiting Google Ads Settings. You may also control cookies through your browser settings, and learn more about third-party ad cookies at aboutads.info.
Google Analytics
Video Tools may use Google Analytics to understand which tools are popular and to improve the site. When enabled, Google Analytics sets cookies and processes aggregated usage data such as pages viewed, approximate location and device type. This measurement is never linked to the contents of the files you process, because those never leave your device. Analytics only runs after you allow it (see below), and you can learn more from Google's privacy policy.
Cookies & your choices
Before any analytics or advertising cookies are used, we apply Google Consent Mode v2. For visitors in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom and Switzerland, consent for analytics and advertising storage defaults to denied until you choose otherwise, and a banner asks for your decision on your first visit. Elsewhere, these are allowed by default in line with local norms, and the same banner lets you opt out.
Choosing Accept all grants analytics and advertising storage; choosing Reject all keeps them denied. Your choice is remembered in your browser's local storage on your own device and is not sent to us. You can change it at any time using the “Cookie settings” link in the site footer, which reopens the banner.
This banner is a lightweight consent control we built ourselves together with Google Consent Mode v2. It is not a certified third-party Consent Management Platform (CMP), and we do not use the IAB Transparency & Consent Framework.
Children's privacy
Video Tools is a general-audience utility and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by the "last updated" date above. Continued use of the site after an update constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
